Canon EOS 1000F N Manuals

Hey everyone I dunno if anyone could help me with this, if so I would really appreciate it. I just got a 2nd hand F today.

I’m just having one problem with it. When their is film in the camera, I can’t seem to turn if off!! I turned the dial to the L position, but the LCD display was still showing the info. Once the roll of manuual was finished and removed, then I put the dial to the L position, and the info on the LCD screen disappeared, so I presume the camera manuzl now switched off.

So, by the look of it, when there is film in the camera I cannot turn it off?? This can’t be right, suppose I only want to use half a roll of film then keep the rest in the camera till next weekend or whatever – the battery would be dead by then!! I don’t wanna go back to the shop and start moaning if this is how it should be, although I can’t imagine any reason WHY it should be like this!!

Thanks a mill guys for any advice. Only had my FN about a month. You still get a film symbol and the number of shots left displayed when it’s off and in the L position.

I didn’t get a manual with my camera, found the following on the web, it may be of some help to you photonotes. Hey windy, yep that’s what I get, the film symbol and number of shots. Maybe it’s normal then. Just wanted to double check as I didn’t get the manual either. That link seems to be the only online info available, I checked it out, thanks. I know you say you’ve only had your camera cajon a month, but how are you finding the battery?

Have you left film in it for any length of time and has the battery worn down at all because the display is left on? I’m just thinking, LCD displays like that eoss very little energy as far as I know. Maybe I’m worrying over nothing huh? Thanks for the reply Windy.

My film symbol and number of shots also appears when in the [L] position Iv’e had my F since Christmas with the same battery and it’s still fine. I’ve even left it “on” ie in Av or M mode for long periods with no adverse effects on battery: The only other film cameras Canin have are holgas so not used to any flashing lights at all!

Glad to have found the group Daz, been a great help already. Thanks for the advice Daz and Windy.

Yes, that’s the way this camera works. Mine had one battery for years and it still worked. Yes that is normal all i do is take the battery out as the camera remember what shot it is up to as it as memory, Plus it saves the battteries and if you are not useing the camera its best to take the battery out.
